Learn how to grant our team Shopify Partner Access, our scope of support, and other key settings and tips for accurate tax collection.

In addition to installing the Numeral app, our Shopify integration requires collaborator access so we can support your business as it grows and you register in new jurisdictions.

To grant access, share the 4-digit collaborator code found under Settings → Users and Permissions → Collaborators. Numeral uses this access to manage filings and monitor nexus using data from your Shopify admin. Shopify’s native Tax Engine continues to calculate tax rates at checkout based on the shipping location and product category.

During onboarding, Numeral performs a one-time product categorization review. After that, your team is responsible for maintaining product categorization under Connections → Manage → Products in the Numeral Dashboard.

Keeping all products correctly categorized helps Shopify’s Tax Engine calculate and collect tax accurately. If you have questions about the process or would like Numeral to review your products later, feel free to reach out to our team.

đŸ”” Scope of support — what Numeral can and can’t manage

Because the Shopify integration relies on collaborator access and uses Shopify’s native Tax Engine—not Numeral’s proprietary tax engine—some settings and troubleshooting remain outside Numeral’s control. Numeral can use Shopify data to support filing and nexus monitoring, but the following items must be managed through Shopify:

  • Setting or overriding tax rates

  • Changing a product’s Charge taxes on this product setting

  • Troubleshooting Shopify’s fallback Tax Engine, incomplete customer addresses, or unsupported payment methods

For these issues, contact Shopify Support, as Numeral’s collaborator access does not extend to managing or troubleshooting these parts of Shopify’s tax setup.
